My original washer and dryer broke within 2 months of finishing residency so I was "forced" to upgrade. I figured since laundry is never ending and I know you here me there-we would spend the money to get the best set we could afford. I have the LG Tromm Steam Washer and dryer XL capacity (front loading). The model just below the fancy, shmancy model. Mine do not have all digital or LED (whatever it's called) controls though; I didn't really think it was worth the extra money. I will totally turn a dial to save 150 bucks. I also don't have the pedastals-not worth the extra money in my opinion. It actually works better without them because my kids can load and unload laundry easily. We researched through Consumer Reports and that's how we decided on LG.
I use ALL (free & clear) Small and Mighty-3x concentrated. I used to be a Tide gal but since switching to front loading, I love the ALL for its cleaning power and low cost in comparison to Tide. Much cheaper. I haven't noticed a difference and never have any skin irritation because it is free of dyes and perfumes.
That's my two cents. Email if you have any questions. Fun times ahead!
I like my Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer. I think the Washer is the most important appliance in a household with this many kids. It has the biggest capacity around. It cuts my loads almost in half. I used to use Tide because it will get anything out, but now I make my own due to money issues. My kids are really hard on clothes...Kirkland with color safe bleach is a close second.
