For the last day and a half we have been in the house (except for our carpooling)...Henry is sick. He has been sick a few times since school began. he missed the first day of school (because it started on a Friday...I got a call asking where he was and oops, I didn't even know what day his school started.) the next week he was sick so missed the first week and half,'
He is so cuddly when he doesn't feel well.
He keeps asking me where germs come from. He asks questions A LOT!!! where do they make robots? what color is the worker guy's tractor? very inquisitive.
Since Halloween is approaching ,we are getting lots of costume catalogs in the mail.
Of course everyday, the costume choice changes.
The other day it was pirates (jack Sparrow) Henry was arguing with Sam that Chris used to be a pirate. it was so funny.
Maggie is crying about spilled skittles.

On MOnday I banned all electronic of any kids...ipads, ipods, computer, wii...somehow as I sit here wasting time before I have to run out this evening all the kids are in my room watching a movie. I really get frustrated a lot bc I feel like I must speak a different language than they do. How else could I explain the fact that they rarely "hear" anything I say.
They are not bad kids at all. They are mostly sweet. But they are kids, and they do act a little unruly and fight and argue with one another. They were especially naughty this past Sunday at church. We sat in the over flow and I had them spread out in three different rows. Henry brought more legos than I knew, building a tower almost as high as the ceiling. I probably caused a bigger scene than was necessary when I dragged Jake out to get on to him.
I am finally back at the gym after my summer hiatus. I am so much nicer when I work out. All the sweat must be all my aggression and anger melting away.
When I started this blog back in Hershey it was mainly out of loneliness maybe a bit of depression. I don't feel that here. Mississippi was certainly NEVER number one on my top places to live, however, I have good friends, feel mostly settled, and do not feel like I am in a high school ward (where I never really felt like I fit in). We recently moved wards within the city...so sad I love my peeps from my old ward. We are renting a new house and the land we bought to build on is in this other ward. Everyone is nice and we know most of the people, but another change that I resist.
On the other hand the fact that I will probably never move again is weird. I have moved around my entire life up until now. I guess that is why vacations are good. I am not sure if the fact that Chris is done with all his schooling/training that maybe I feel like a "real" person. I feel more comfortable with myself than ever before. I even sang in church (which I hadn't done in about 10 years) and grew to really like my RS teaching calling. Although I am still very socially slow, these are big steps for me.
I really do not to like t o come off braggy or complainy.. like sometimes I read some blogs and I think are you kidding me...but have to remind myself that everyone's problems are difficult for them.
So in the past year I have not felt the need to share anything, but since I am slacking on baby books and pciture albums this will do for now. Yesterday Henry was looking in the mirror brushing his hair and asked "Do I look like Baybit" (that is what he and Sam call Justin Bieber, that is what they think his "baby" song says) today he wanted to go to the dump to see all the trash and also mentioned he would like to be a dog so people would pet him. I will miss him next week when he goes to school.
Sam has become Mr. Chatty Pants at school and has a best buddy Hank. IF the kids are quiet during naptim Mon through Thur, on Fri they get to watch a movie. he has missed out on that. I am not a fan of full day kindergarden, but it is ok since he is almost 6. He is so small. He wears a 4T, maybe a 5 shirt. And his friend Hank is like huge. It is funny.
Anna cheered at her first game last night. It was an away game and since I had back to school night for the Elem and jake had football practice, and Chris was on call we missed it. (is that a run on sentence?)
jakob loves him his football. He has never showed interest when we put him in soccer, so he always did gymnastics (which he was great at) but at this male tweenness of budding testosterone it is good for his agression.
Emma is happy at school, she is wearing her glasses finally after 3 years. I think it is helping her with school work. Surprise! She got te teacher she wanted this year (so did Jake) and they are so nice.
We are about to close in the next day on 10 acres of land to build our house (the plans are finally done, only took about 1 year to get them right. Not so we took awhile off in pursuit of buying a home which is another 3 month long story)

Oh we got a bunny. I do NOT like animals. Just not a fan. we have had some hamsters, lizards and fish but they are no longer with us. Emma has been wanting a bunny since she turned 8. We were driving around and saw a pet store going out of business and bought it. He is a black velveteen and at first the kids called him dark bunny, but Emma calls him Pickles. He is pretty small and will stay that way. Maggie would cry for the first week everytime we left the house that she missed her dark bunny.
Need to get the kids ready for bed. Hope they fall asleep quickly!

been a looong time

I haven't posted to this blog in over a year, it almost seems silly to do one now. I won't attempt to catch up.
It is just me, Henry, and Maggie home. Just two, they seem like a million.
Especially Maggie. In the past two weeks she has poured an entire half gallon of milk and mixed shredded cheese all over her play kitchen. Emptied out a bottle of detangling spray. Poured countless boxes, bags of food and crushed them all over the floor. Put an entire pkg of sliced cheese all over the back windows, etc. etc. She is a mess and makes one all the time. She is super prissy most of the time...loves to wear pretties (dresses), put on her lips(anything she can call lipstick), get her hair shined(brushed) and loves her baby "Cheeto".
She loves the water and this summer in FL she had her little tube on and thought she could go all over like a big girl. It kind of made me nervous.
She loves to play rough with the boys as well. And likes to HI-YA all over the house doing karate moves.
I cannot believe she will be three in a few months. She is a teeny little lady in size but has a big personality and will certainly tell anyone how she feels.

Henry begins preschool in a few weeks. I am excited, he calls it prindergarden. He loves to pee outside, play with weedy (little) people, cars, his animals, BATMAN, swimming, and LEGOS! We were sitting waiting for Jake to get out of scouts one afternoon and he had to relieve himself. so I told him to go outside. He says "MOM! NO I cannot the armadillos and dogs will eat it!!" Not sure where that came from. HE is so cute, but he doesn't like to cuddle. Lately he has been waking up and getting in bed with Chris and I so we love getting some snuggle time with him. HE LOVES MAggie so much!!! They are crazy together, but they are such good little buddies.

Sam, last spring I brought him to school to "test" it out. he stayed for an hour each time. of course screaming and throwing a fit.
I was so scared he would freak out the first day of kindergarden,. I am already nervous sending him with his allergy/skin issues, but the school has really been great with my demands. He did well. I came for lunch the first day, he gave me a hug and told me to go home. Today he got out through carpool (I have walked him in every day this past week) and he was so happy to go.
This kid is an amazing artist. he will sit for hours and draw. He and Henry were talking about what to be for Halloween and said what about those walmart or target workers that push the carts in, and they could wear a vest. They explored more ideas and got on the topic of how you "become" somethign when you grow up. We talked about college and he always asks, can you go to college to be a cowboy, firefighter, dentist (henry asked about being a dinosaur). My favorite was when he asked "if a person is a really good drawer, can they go to art school?' We are still not able to offer him all the foods others enjoy, but have found a great bread and tortilla that he loves. I never want him to feel left out, but he will always be a little different and I want him to be good with who he is.

Now I am already tired of this. Maybe tomorrow I will catch up on the big ones. With school starting and activities I can be in the car about 4 hours a day. BLAH. I am glad I have a good big vehicle to get the job done. I certainly do not want to be a complainer when I have so much.

new year, new poster

My wife has finally allowed me to post on our blog. i feel so blessed.
Life with 6 kids is crazy but fun. Each of them has so much to offer in our home.
Jakob and I are working on the first pine wood derby, I am trying not to take over. Check out a few snapshots of the process.
SW has really enjoyed being in Miss Kim's preschool and he has learned TONS. That kid is wicked smart and we see him either becoming the perfect mind or dropping out in 7th grade due to boredom.
We have implemented some new discipline tools in our home, according to Nick, my yelling was getting us no where.
Not so sure about that! For Henry, aka Nolan, he gets Lousiana hot sauce. Thats the name, not tabasco-too hot. Its works pretty well. He has developed quite the smart mouth and likes to use the word butt. Must be all those kids from school, wait he's not in school. Well he's getting it from somewhere!
The 3 girls are girls, nikki can speak more on them. The little one Maggie, aka moo, is a MONSTER!! She is driving this house for sure. Everyone babies her, but the best is how her closest brothers Sam and Nolan are so protective of her. The littles will be quite the group in about 4 years.
